First of all, let me say that this has been the best convention experience I’ve had… period. I’ve had a lot of fun in the past going to MoCCA this year and local conventions in the past, but this weekend takes the cake.
Why was it so great? Well, there was all the great things conventions have, of course, like creators, writers, artists of your favorite comics; fantastic works you won’t see anywhere else; and, yes, the crazy costumes. But the best part of this convention was the really wonderful people I met.

As a comics fan, it’s easy to attend a convention and not really see it as an opportunity to make new friends and chat about the things you love. Hey, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m pretty socially inept. It’s just one of those things I have to work on. But this weekend I had the best time meeting and hanging out with a really stellar bunch of folks. Great dinner with Dawn from Zorphbert & Fred, Ken from Rick the Stick, Chris from Capes ‘n Babes, Rob from Art Geek Zoo, Tyler James comics creator extraordinaire, Howie Noeldechen from Tara Normal and met John Bintz from Dawn’s Dictionary Drama, R.M. Rhodes of Oletheros Publishing, Stephen Lindsay of Jesus Hates Zombies, the Frightful Fetus, and many more. And there was Brian “Smitty” Smith and then TL Collins of Bullfinch, and of course Brock Heasley of Super Fogeys. So many wonderful people, I know I’m missing some folks. It was really an experience I wish came around more often.

Here’s to next year… or sooner if the fates allow.

Love those photos! Thanks for sharing, Dave.
Looks like everyone had a good time. I long for the day when I get to attend a comic convention.
Cons are fun but can be exhausting. I’m not sure about the folks who are exhibiting, but for attendees it’s like a wonderland.
Yay! Took me a while to get over here and comment, but I had a terrific time. Gotta do it again next year!
